Ben Trovato
BEN IS ONE OF the BCN’s longest-serving and most-loved personalities. Aside from his hosting duties on Breathing Room, Ben’s soothing, velour voice introduces University of the Air, and occasionally brings you the news.
Born and raised in Hoboken, New Jersey, Ben moved to Canada in the early 1960’s and was soon sought after as a commercial announcer, working his way from job to job until he reached Newfoundland in 1964, where he married and is busy living happily ever after.
Ben's long stint as group leader of the BCN Youth Advisory Council (1963-68) was just the beginning of a long love affair with community service. It was also the basis of his breakthrough youth affairs show, It’s Now! (1967-68).
In 1997 Ben was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Broadcastology for his work on University of the Air.
